Nuclear Energy In The United Arab Emirates
Over the past two decades, the energy sector has witnessed a series of developments and initiatives to save energy and find alternatives to oil. These trends have led many experts and organizations around the world to conduct research and a number of studies and hold forums to arrive at recommendations to meet the requirements of society in the long term and contribute to developmental processes.
In 1895 Wilhelm Rontgen discovered lonising radiation by passing an electric current through an evacuated glass tube and produce continuously X-rays. After that in 1896 the scientist Henri Becquerel found the pitchblende ( which is in org occupies radium and uranium ) (nuclear energy//Wikipedia) , this component caused a photographic plate which proved That this was due to beta radiation and alpha particles being emitted. Then in 1896 Pierre and Marie Curie gave the name [radioactivity] to this phenomenon.
Studies conducted in the UAE on the demand and supply of electricity in the future have concluded that the generation of electricity using nuclear energy represents a competitive option, commercially viable and promising from the environmental point of view. Using nuclear energy would contribute greatly to the economy of the state and its future security, motivated by the need to develop additional sources of electricity generation in order to meet expected demands in the future, and to ensure the rapid development and sustainability GCC economies in general and the UAE in particular.
Form Objectives: Disseminating knowledge on the uses of alternative energy sources for all segments of society. Supporting decision makers in the provision of energy and confronting the challenges and obstacles concerning the current state of existing energy sources and future energy needs in the UAE. Highlighting the most important energy options available to the UAE as alternatives to oil. Demonstrating how to benefit from the experiences of developed countries with regard to energy alternatives and the future needs for energy in the UAE.
Nuclear energy policy in the United Arab Emirates . Issued the UAE in April 2008 its policy on the evaluation and possible development of a peaceful program of nuclear energy.
This policy has been built on strict criteria with regard to transparency, safety and security, making the UAE a model for the development of nuclear energy in all parts of the world.
Policy emphasizes on six key principles are:
Complete operational transparency. The highest standards of nuclear non-proliferation. Apply the highest standards of safety and security. Work closely with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Partnerships with responsible nations and institutions with appropriate expertise. Long-term sustainability.
Work began the law of the United Arab Emirates on the peaceful uses of nuclear energy in October 2009. This has enabled the law of a system of licensing and control of nuclear materials. The text of the constitution of the Organization of the nuclear power industry in the UAE is the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation.
Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation: is an independent federal agency responsible for regulating and licensing of all activities related to nuclear energy in the UAE, including the operations of the Emirates Foundation of nuclear energy, while ensuring public safety as its primary
goal. The role of this body in applying the highest standards, and encourage self-correction and best practices across the United Arab Emirates.
Foundation works for the UAE nuclear energy in accordance with guidelines and standards set by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Support the future growth of the UAE through the provision of nuclear energy safe, effective and environmentally friendly Increasing energy demand in the UAE at an annual rate of 9 percent, equivalent to three times the global average. The provision of a reliable source of electric power is extremely important for future growth in the state.
Take the Emirates Nuclear Energy undertook this challenge, and working to achieve the goal is to provide electricity to the network of United Arab Emirates in 2017. It is expected that nuclear energy is the source of about a quarter of the state's needs of electricity by the year 2020.
Safety comes we attach the highest priority at the forefront of this commitment, where nothing is more important than the safety of our employees and our communities and our local environment.
To conclude the nuclear energy project will definitely affect positively the UAE economics and future.
